The following terms and conditions apply Maldon Shot Blasting will be MSB within this document.

MALDON SHOT BLASTING & POWDER COATING TERMS AND CONDITIONS

General Site & Property Rules

  • Vehicles are parked at the owner's risk.
  • Personal possessions are left at the owner's risk.
  • No member of the public or sales representative may enter any part of the MSB premises unless escorted by a member of staff. Entry without permission is entirely at the individual's own risk.
  • The showroom is the only area accessible to the public or visitors.
  • Goods are left at the owner's or agent's risk. MSB accepts no liability for damage or theft.

Pricing, VAT & Payment

  • All quoted prices are subject to VAT at the prevailing rate.
  • MSB reserves the right to refuse work.
  • If material or parts costs increase after acceptance of an order, MSB reserves the right to pass these additional costs on to the customer.
  • Extra work required to achieve a satisfactory finish will be carried out with the client's permission. If the client cannot be contacted, MSB may proceed with the additional work and charge accordingly.
  • Payments not received by the due date will accrue interest at 4% per month until paid.
  • Goods not collected or paid for within 12 months and one day may be sold to recover losses.
  • Ownership of goods passes to the customer only once full payment has been received.

Blast Cleaning & Associated Risk

  • MSB cannot be held responsible for loss or damage during blasting.
  • Items unsuitable for blasting, or parts not removed beforehand, may be damaged. MSB will provide a verbal warning, and the client must sign the job sheet or verbally agree to proceed.
  •  For aqua, bead or shot blasting, the client must ensure all media residue is removed before reassembly.
  • All parts not intended for blasting must be removed by the client.
  • All seals, bearings, rubber bushes, plastics or unsuitable parts must be removed before work begins. MSB is not responsible for damage to these items and may charge for their removal.
  • Oil, grease, petrol or other liquids not removed beforehand will incur a cleaning/disposal charge.

Transport, Delivery & Inspection

  • Transport, delivery, insurance and related costs are charged extra unless otherwise agreed.
  • Risk passes to the customer at the point of despatch or handover.
  • Customers must inspect goods upon collection. Damage caused by transport or careless handling after leaving MSB premises will not be rectified free of charge.
  • Warranties/guarantees are non‑transferable unless agreed in advance.
  • A sales invoice must be produced for any claim.
  • Where MSB arranges transport or insurance, it does so as the customer's agent and accepts no liability beyond that obligation.
  • Customers must notify MSB of defects or short delivery within 72 hours of collection/delivery.
  • MSB may despatch orders in instalments; delays in one instalment do not relieve the customer of obligations for the remainder.

Marine Work

  • Marine work is covered by warranty only if parts/vessels are cleaned and maintained.
  • Damage to coated parts voids the warranty.
  •  Marine work carries a maximum 12‑month warranty, unless otherwise agreed. 5 years if Plascoat is applied.
    MSB offers a five‑year warranty, subject to the following conditions:
    • - Parts must be cleaned and cared for regularly using suitable non‑abrasive, non‑silicon cleaners.
    • - Items must be polished with appropriate non‑abrasive products.
    • - Parts kept within 2 miles of a sea coast or estuary are covered for a maximum of 12 months.
    • - Warranty repairs require parts to be fully dismantled; MSB does not cover dismantling or refitting costs.
    • - Damage from stone chips or impact is excluded.
    • - Third‑party repairs by unapproved contractors void the warranty.
    • - Areas unreachable by MSB's process are not covered; clients should protect such areas with wax oil or similar products.
    • - Chemical damage voids the warranty.
  •   Changes to work after commencement may incur extra charges.
  • Our anti-corrosive primer coat must be applied.
  • Special instructions must be provided in writing; verbal instructions cannot be accepted.
  • Clients must maintain refurbished parts appropriately; reckless use or lack of maintenance voids agreements.
  • Refurbished parts must be used for their original intended purpose.
  • Goods left on MSB premises remain at the owner's risk.

Alloy Parts – Important Notes

  • Corroded alloy parts may show pitting after blasting and coating.
  • Powder coating may not fully hide severe scarring; additional work or two‑pack finishing may be required at extra cost.
  • Some issues may not be visible at drop‑off; MSB will inform the client if problems arise.
  • “Gassing out” may occur in corroded or poor‑quality castings. Degassing may help but is not guaranteed. Wet painting may be the only alternative and may increase costs.
  • Work carried out against MSB advice is entirely at the client's risk.
  • Warranty for items affected by gassing out is limited to 6 months or at MSB's discretion.

Additional Work & Estimates

  • Prices/estimates do not include extra repair work required to achieve a reasonable standard.
  • MSB will contact the client if additional work is needed and request instructions on how to proceed.

Agreement

  • By entering into a contract with MSB, the client agrees to all Terms & Conditions outlined in this document.
  • This document does not affect statutory rights.
